Key Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Health and Safety compliance monitoring and auditing of operations across the Group.
  • Assisting in hosting audits of our sites by customers.
  • Advising on satisfying requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act (74) and subordinate regulations and guidance.
  • Managing incident reporting systems and reporting of RIDDOR to statutory bodies.
  • Health and Safety incident investigation.
  • Maintaining the management systems and assisting in the continual improvement of Company sites and activities.
  • Collating of and reporting health and safety data for industry bodies, i.e. MPA and customer requests.
  • Assisting management in incident investigation and reporting.
  • Liaising with departmental and senior managers and, where required, external consultants, on all Health and Safety matters.
  • Offering instruction and training on Health and Safety compliance.
  • Sourcing and recommending external Health and Safety training.
  • Maintaining the Company’s Legal Health and Safety register.
  • Participating and representing the company in industry groups.
  • Leading the drive for continual Health and Safety improvement.

Experience, qualifications and competencies:

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise appropriately.
  • Previous experience in a health and safety role or similar, preferably in a mineral/waste/transport/construction environment.
  • Engineering or operational management role.
  • A co-operative and flexible attitude within a team environment.
  • SHE Level 4/NEBOSH certificate qualification or above.
  • Proactive work ethic.
  • Full driving licence.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Degree and /IOSH/IEMA or similar membership.
  • Knowledge of certification of Health and Safety Management Systems, ISO 45001:2015 or similar.
  • Existing relationships with the Health and Safety Executive.

Working hours/days: 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday. However, flexibility will be required.

Package is: annual salary plus the 9% employer pension contribution with Scottish Widows. You may be entitled to the discretionary Annual and Christmas bonuses. Annual leave of 29 days per year, including 8 Bank Holidays.
